Right now, we’re in the middle of our planet’s 6th great extinction event.
Since 1970, the world has lost more than half of its vertebrates.
Without diversity we won’t have enough food, drinking water, or air.
We need you. Help us preserve species.

Fighting together for species protection
We find ourselves in the middle of the sixth mass extinction – the greatest loss of species since the death of the dinosaurs. Humans have caused it and only humans can stop it. #6 – Fighting Extinction focuses on the most important topic of this century: The future. Without biodiversity, there isn’t one. Time’s up!
More than 26,000 species
are threatened with extinction
That is more than 27% of all assessed species.*.

"SeaLegacy is proud to partner with #6 - Fighting Extinction to call attention to the plight of marine wildlife due to climate change, plastic pollution, overfishing, and industrialization of our oceans. What we do or fail to do in the next 5 years will determine how our oceans look like for the next 10,000 years. The time to act is now!"

"In our selfishness we believe so firmly that this planet belongs only to us and not to all its other inhabitants, that we deprive it of its diversity and rip the net of life that nourishes us apart. We are well on our way to turning the Earth into a library with only a single book."
I really hope that you’ll support Dirk and his team, because the message they’re putting out, the urgency with which we must try to stop the mass extinction that we are going through, the tapestry of life, biodiversity, is so important. I don't want my great great grandchildren to live in a world where all these amazing species that enrich my life and your life can only be found in books.
How far would you go to stop the extinction of species?
To understand the crisis in biodiversity, we travel to extinction’s hotspots and witness aspects, causes, and effects. We’ll speak with visionaries, affected parties, scientists, environmentalists, politicians, children, celebrities, and with YOU. Help propel a movement from which there is no going back:
Changing instead of causing.

#6 Tour
Cinema
Full-length feature film shot in high-definition 4K at the hotspots of extinction around the globe. With the help of knowledgeable guides, we’ll witness the extent of the destruction and the beauty of planet Earth.
New Media
Online campaign with short, engaging movies, livestreams, comprehensive information, excerpts of the international filming, and compelling interviews. A series of 360-degree short films will let you witness the beauty - and the potential destruction - of the planet in a virtual journey around the world. A supportive social media community will be the engine of the whole campaign.
Off Air Activities
Talk show appearances and TV clips, traveling exhibitions for natural history museums and photo exhibitions are in the making. However, we can do even more – with YOUR help! Join us in developing ideas and activities focusing on species extinction.
Education
A popular science book accompanying the campaign will provide background information and current developments on the topic. In addition, we will develop educational programs in schools to raise awareness about species protection and to call the next generation of Earth’s citizens to action.
#6 Tour
The multimedia #6 stage program is based on Dirk Steffen’s experience from the WWF Living Planet Tour, currently the most successful scientific stage program in Germany. There are plans to expand the project internationally.
